Conventional vs. Unconventional

Annie Sawyer, PhD

General medicine is divided into two categories: conventional and alternative (unconventional). Which one shall be appointed as' alternative 'will be shown in the coming years. For real time alternative medicine is regarded as an empirical one (not demonstrated in vivo or in vitro experiments). Can witnesses before ever really just the opposite-conventional medicine be considered as an alternative or a unconventional due to several side effects of chemicals in it. However, empirical considered in comparison with conventional medicine, an increasing number of people in the western world are emerging alternative medicine as part of their health care.

In 1997, Americans more than 629 million visitors practicing alternative medicine, which is a 47% increase from 1990. This number significantly exceeds the 386 million visitors, links to all primary care doctors in the same year. Conditions for which people are most likely to seek alternative medicine treatments include chronic lower back pain, stress, migraine headache, and arthritis, as well as cancer, autoimmune diseases, including Alzheimer's. Some people also look for alternative medicine in the treatment of conventional treatment offers little hope or no hope, especially at the end of life.

In recent years, are used not only to internal or external treatment of surgery, but also the alternative uses of therapies in oral form included herbal medicine, multivitamin therapy, homeopathy and Ayurveda seems to take place in our very busy recently. There are other CAM used by diabetes patients, which include faith healing, macrobiosis (eat a macrobiotic diet), the membership of a religious sect, clinical ecology (the use of chromium and nicotinic acid treatment of the resulting reduction in insulin dose), astrotherapy (tying a piece of coral in the vicinity of weapons ), reflexology (foot massage area said the internal body) therapy pearl (pearl oysters cooked in milk and then drinking the liquid), herbal therapy, meditation and homeopathy.

One recent survey in Canada indicated that about a third of more than 500 people interviewed used an alternative treatment. Conventional and alternative medicines have the same objectives as regards the treatment of illness. Ask to use different routes, and do it. Both attempt to reduce mineral or hormone levels, in case of congestion or pathological increase in the case of mineral or hormone deficiency. Because of their fine work, alternative options are best reserved for patients with mild symptoms. Conventional options, though more aggressive, are usually needed for the management of patients with mild to heavy symptoms.

Conventional medicine generally defines health as the absence of disease. A leading cause of illness is usually considered as isolated factors such as pathogens (bacteria or viruses) or biochemical imbalances, and often requires drug treatment or surgery. In contrast, alternative medicine practitioners often defines health as a balance telesných system-physical, emotional and spiritual-involving the whole person in a single unit. The above balance is preparing documents for holistic medicine approaches. Disharmony between the body / mind / spirit system is the idea that cause disease. Healing includes strengthening the body own immune defense and recovery of these balances. Alternative medicine also emphasizes prevention of health problems before they arise.

Conventional medicine quickly reduces some obvious symptoms that if left untreated, can lead to serious complications. However, conventional treatment does not address the causes. For example, obe-surgery and radioiodine ablation (RAI) cause hypothyroidism in more than 50% of patients treated hyperthyroid. Alternative Medicine supports the body to spontaneous remission, which was 10% to 25% in most cases. All these factors should be taken into account before deciding on treatment.

Conventional medicine offers three options for the treatment of major diseases 1) drug administration, 2) partial or complete surgical removal, 3) radiation. Alternative medicine offers many holistic approach, starting with the right diet, lifestyle changes, herbal and nutraceutical support and also helps the body to recognize its proper problems and to promote its own time of the final remission. Reasons why people use these treatments included a large belief that "alternative medicine" work without damage. Other reasons include disease prevention "wellness" of faith in healing specific health problems, including back pain, headaches, emotional problems, musculoskeletal disorders and infections.

Several considerations should be taken into account when deciding on treatment, including age, gender, general health, thyroid status, personal preferences and doctor of philosophy based on his experience. Our recommendation is that all patients would benefit from alternative treatments of at least 18 months before deciding on a permanent course of the event. One recent survey found that people felt that were added benefits of alternative medicine use, lower costs, and perceived less adverse effects. Although the difference between conventional and alternative medicine, is not always easy to determine the basic philosophical difference exists

Complementary and alternative medicine covers a wide range of therapies and treatments taken from around the world. Many aspects of complementary and alternative medicine have their roots in the old system of healing, such as China, India, Tibet, Africa. Complementary and alternative medicine practices can be used alone (CAM), or in combination with conventional medicine (medicine alopatické). For simplicity, however, the concept of alternative medicine is used in the rest of this chapter. Natural medicine is a healing art to help people in recovery from illness and maintaining well-is through the stimulation, accessories and support natural healing capacity of his body through natural means. Stresses that the body can heal itself, when suitably supported to do so. To facilitate the full recovery of the root cause must be addressed. Health and disease are the conditions for the whole organism, a whole involving physical, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors. Natural therapist must treat the whole man. Beyond accurate diagnosis and the right prescription, the doctor must be a catalyst for healthy change and motivation for patients to assume responsibility for their health. Most diseases are self-creation. They are the result of long-term abuse in the form of life skills, faulty nutritional habits and health unfriendly environmental factors. Key postulates of Natural Medicine are: no harm, build health rather than combating disease, practice prevention and changed if needed.

Natural medical practice is based on the assumption that this is the true nature of living organisms to heal itself. Natural doctor understands the disease is disruption of normal orderly function. Healing is the process by which returns to the live system resilient balance, either with or without therapeutic support specialist. Western medicine rarely take into account the natural ordering of forces underlying known physiologic processes such as metabolism or tissue repair. Natural Medicine is the primary principle of "face medicatrix naturae, or healing power of Mother Nature.

Integrative medicine combines conventional medicine with the use of natural (alternative) medicine. It is the overall access to health care and treatment that is sometimes referred to as the entire health system or an alternative medical system. Enables healing through restoration of natural balance and hold a strong belief that the mind and body are strongly linked. Integrative medicine believes in the healing power of nature and its methods are natural, non-invasive and least toxic. This approach differs from traditional Western medicine in this is great emphasis on treating the whole person with individual treatment plan.

The alternative (holistic) practice is focused on "whole body" approach. What does it mean that the naturopath has a tendency to look at the whole person when treating judgment (Field 2008). Holistic doctors' made great efforts to, as one symptom or body system affected by other (Andersen & Fogh 2007). In fact, this type of medicine, must be regarded as more traditional forms of health care, because it is older and is usually based on Chinese, ayurvedic medicines and Meridian system. Some in the field of alternative health care as massage, acupuncture, acupressure, chiropractor and osteopathic care, applied kinesiology, healthy touch, massage and Neuro-Emotional Technique ™ (NET ™), homeopathy, naturopathy and herbology. This type of medicine is focused on prevention and health maintenance, before it reaches the place of dysfunction (Eisenberg 1997).

Alternative therapies are empirically proven methods, which generally are not invasive and unharmful but the main physiological effects (Field, 2008). "Ten percent of all patients, try one of these type of alternative therapy usually before or after normal therapy" (Feinstein 2008). Holistic therapies, on the other hand, can be very useful for support and comfort of patients during conventional therapy, and could include methods such as Tai Chi, massage, mind-body techniques and advice (Lazaro 1998). Most of these methods have been around for decades and have the data to show that they are effective approaches. In the past, which would be known as "supportive care" (Field 2008).

However, empirical considered by conventional medicine, an increasing number of people in the western world are exploring alternative medicine as part of their health care. Experiencing the modern scientific, technological and materialistic civilization, it became clear that the very existence of life on this planet May be jeopardized rapid degeneration of human health in our 21st century. In the so-called "modern world", the life sciences, including the most modern approach, which appear to be insufficient to maintain human well-is to this general decline. A recession appears to be not only financial, but also one of the values, morals, and especially in the health sector.
